Established in 2024 in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan with one simple goal: create the kind of place we would feel comfortable leaving our own dogs.
We wanted a boarding environment that was smaller, more personal and more predictable than traditional high-volume care.
That meant intentionally limiting our guest numbers, creating comfortable private spaces, providing plenty of outdoor time and enrichment, and keeping care consistent.
Bark Inn is operated from our home and property, which allows us to provide a truly hands-on experience.
Keeping our guest list small gives us the ability to closely supervise interactions, learn each dog’s routine and provide more individual attention throughout their stay.
We’re not trying to care for as many dogs as possible. We’re intentionally doing the opposite.
We learn their personalities. We know who wants to spend the afternoon playing and who would rather relax, who loves puzzles, who loves sniffing around the yard, and who simply wants to be close to us. That is what boutique boarding means to us.
Bark Inn is family owned and operated. Because we’re located on our home property, your dog’s caregivers are close by throughout their stay, including overnight.
Your dog isn’t being passed between a large rotating staff. They have familiar caregivers who learn their personality, routines and preferences over time.
One of our favourite parts of boarding is watching first-time guests gradually become regular Bark Inn dogs who recognise where they are the moment they arrive.
Not every dog is suited to every boarding environment, which is why all new guests complete an Overnight Trial Stay. It gives us the opportunity to make sure Bark Inn is the right fit for the individual dog before accepting longer reservations.
We would rather remain selective than compromise the safe, calm environment our families expect from us.
When we’re able, we assist rescue organisations by fostering dogs in need. Our property includes separately fenced areas that allow foster puppies and other appropriate foster dogs to remain safely separated from boarding guests when necessary.
Families who adopt an eligible Bark Inn foster may also receive a lifetime discounted boarding rate, subject to our regular boarding requirements.
Bark Inn may be a business, but it’s also part of our home. That gives the place its personality.
Our goal is for every guest to have a safe, comfortable place to stay — and for their family to have peace of mind knowing they’re receiving attentive, personalised care.
